Branching to the right of King Street
leads into the 'Craigs' shopping area adjoining the Thistle
Centre and covering Port Street, Dumbarton Road, Pitt Terrace,
Allan Park and Upper Craigs all offering a fine selection of
quality restaurants and traditional shops. |
| The
main junction of the Craigs is dominated by the Wolfcraig
Buildings, a unique architectural
showpiece which was one of the first buildings in the country
to be constructed with steel beams and also to have electric
lighting. If you look up you will see the wolf, a special
symbol of Stirling's history & myths. |
At the far end you can relax at the
Black Boy Fountain and gardens, then make your way to the
shops in Dumbarton Road past what remains of the Old Town
Wall, leading to the beautiful gardens surrounding the Albert
Halls, the Back Walk (one of Europe's finest urban walkways)
and the famous Smith Art Gallery.
