Passing
the Old High School of Stirling you approach the wall of the
old town down Academy Road. The wall was built in 1547 to defend
the town from English invaders.
The
building of Academy Road and the High School in 1854 made
it necessary to break through the wall. You can see how
the wall was built with the rock partly as a foundation
and partly as a support. The High School appears to grow
out of the old wall.
