Nestling in the 'wee county' of
Clackmannanshire, against the magnificent backdrop of the
Ochil Hills, is Scotland's Woolen Mill County.
The 'wee county' is famous for tranquillity, yet in years now long gone
the whole area was bustling with activity. Some of the most prominent
were the textile makers; Tillicoultry was once home to over 18 textile
mills, and the local brewing industry.
There
is no longer a working Mill, but visitors can see an informative
10 minute video of Clackmannanshire
today, storyboards of the history of the area as well as
present day, 3 old looms that were used in the mills, a craft
shop, tourist information centre and gift shop, D&M Fashions
factory Outlet and Ochil View Coffee Shop.
